An eight goal goal-rush was followed by a thumping away day for Manchester City before Liverpool disappointed once more.
A 0-0 draw between Liverpool and Crystal Palace brought a dull end to Saturday’s Premier League proceedings.
Arsenal were heavily dominant at the King Power Stadium with Leicester City struggling to do more than merely contain the Gunners in the opening exchanges.
Gabriel Martinelli got Mikel Arteta’s side the lead shortly after half time and the hosts did little to stop the leaders from seeing out a 1-0 victory to extend their lead at the top of the pile.
Everton lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa while Leeds beat Southampton by a solitary Junior Firpo goal to nil at Elland Road and West Ham thumped Nottingham Forest 4-0 in the remainder of the afternoon games.
Come Saturday evening, Erling Haaland was back on the scoresheet and Phil Foden put on quite the show as Manchester City won 4-1 away at Bournemouth.
The champions won away from home in the Premier League for the 200th time and remain just two points off Arsenal at the top.
At Selhurst Park, Liverpool would have hoped to bounce back from their 5-2 Anfield defeat to Real Madrid.
Instead, a scrappy game unfolded to add to their sorrowful season — with Crystal Palace hanging on to keep their first clean sheet against the Reds for the first time in 18 years. 0-0 was the final score.
