“How do I carry on never seeing you again?”
This is the painful question Leanne van der Merwe is asking after losing her husband Marius on Friday.
She is grieving in public, sharing her raw pain with the world.
In tearful videos posted on TikTok, Leanne speaks directly to the man she lost. She shares memories of their life together and the happy moments they spent as a family.
“I love you forever babe, always,” she wrote in one emotional post.
The videos show a family torn apart. One clip has already been watched more than a million times.
In another tribute, Leanne struggles to imagine a future alone.
“I don’t know how to be without you,” she wrote. “Something in the heavens tells me we’ll be together again.”
Her words have touched thousands of people. Strangers are sending messages of support and demanding justice for Marius.
He was killed in the driveway of their home while opening the gate. Leanne and their two children were there when it happened.
Marius was a key witness known as “Witness D”. He was testifying about corruption and murder involving senior police officers.
Police say they are working fast to find the people who did this to Leanne’s family.
Commissioner General Fannie Masemola says three suspects have been identified. One is already being questioned and a getaway car was found in Alexandra.
But for Leanne, the arrest will not bring back the husband she misses so much.
