- Wife of murdered Ekurhuleni metro police officer arrested for allegedly arranging his killing after failed poisoning attempt.
- Suspected shooter caught at Kwa-Thema Hostel following a tip-off, with CCTV footage helping identify him.
Police have arrested the wife of murdered Ekurhuleni metro police officer Constable Banele Skosana, saying she arranged to have him killed.
The arrest comes after police caught the suspected shooter, Nhliziyozabantu Magwanyana, at Kwa-Thema Hostel on Monday night following a tip-off.
Investigators say Skosana’s wife tried to kill him by poisoning his food a week before he was gunned down at his tuckshop.
The constable, who worked at OR Tambo International Airport, was shot several times at his shop in Kwa-Thema on Friday while off duty. The killers took his service pistol.

Skosana was on sick leave recovering from the suspected poisoning when he was murdered. He is the fifth police officer killed by criminals in three months.
EMPD and Gauteng Highway Patrol worked together to catch the suspects after CCTV footage helped them identify Magwanyana as the shooter.
The murdered officer had opened his spaza shop last year after foreign shop owners were forced to leave the area. Since then, local people who took over shops have faced threats, and some have been killed.
