When they’re not killing Russians they’re dancing on TikTok

With the war against Russia ongoing, Ukrainian soldiers have turned to dancing on TikTok in a bid to raise morale.

Videos of the soldiers dancing in the snow have gone viral over social media platforms.

The most recent video was a 23-second clip that was shared on 5 December on the official Twitter account of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The clip shows a man in military attire performing a dance in the snow while gunshots can be heard in the background.

The caption read, “Winter has never been an obstacle to a good mood”. It scored close to 10 million views.

The same account previously shared a 21-second clip of a soldier also dancing, this time on the bonnet of what appears to be a military vehicle. It had over 285,000 views and a caption: “Morale is High”.

Diyak Yuiry, the man behind one of the videos, told the Insider he’s been in the military for over three years and he was truly grateful for everyone who watched the videos on his TikTok account.

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February, but have since lost more than half the territory it initially gained, the BBC reported in November.
