WhatsApp chats link royal murder to power struggle

Speculation surrounding the murder of King Misuzulu’s adviser, who was also a member of the coronation committee, has left members of the Zulu royal family both angered and perplexed.

The confusion arises from WhatsApp conversations that suggest Prince Nandos’ murder was due to a power struggle over the position of the traditional prime minister.

These messages also hint at the involvement of hitmen from Mozambique hired to carry out the assassination.

The WhatsApp exchanges further reveal that before his murder, surveillance cameras were strategically placed in the rooms where Prince Nandos conducted crucial meetings in preparation for Misuzulu’s coronation.

Prince Afrika Zulu, a member of the royal family, shared his perspective with Scrolla.Africa, explaining that these WhatsApp conversations had created significant chaos within the family.

“We were all confused when we first came across them. We then realised that they seemed to have been concocted by a certain businessman from Mpumalanga who was trying to implicate everyone to gain access to the family.

“That is why we have now decided to allow the police to do their work in order to apprehend those responsible for the murder of Prince Nandos,” he stated.

Prince Nandos was tragically assassinated in November last year, just weeks after King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s coronation.

He played a pivotal role in the coronation team responsible for the presidential certification handover to the king at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala emphasised that all matters related to politics are investigated by the Political Task Team, referring all queries to the head office for further details.

Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe did not provide responses to the questions directed towards her.
