What the devil is your name?

A woman recently took to the internet to seek advice after her pregnant sister revealed to her the bizarre name she had chosen for her baby boy.

She wants to name her unborn baby Lucifer!

The announcement at a family meeting called by the mother ended when the family rejected the name.

Her relatives urged her to reconsider the name, as it would cause him “years of bullying and religious confusion.”

Posting the story on Reddit, the woman wrote: “My 25-year-old sister is eight months pregnant with a baby boy. The whole family is super excited for her and we can’t wait to meet her son.”

She continued, “It’s turned into a big event between us since she’s the first sibling to have a kid and we’ve all given her an ungodly large amount of name suggestions, so she decided to do a video call with us to announce it.

“She picked Lucifer.”

Yes, the mother decided to name her first-born child after the devil himself.

It turns out that she had drawn inspiration from her favourite TV show, Supernatural, which features a character called Lucifer.

The show follows two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, as they follow in their father’s footsteps hunting monsters. Sam and Dean, by the way, would have been two perfectly reasonable picks for the name of a baby boy.

Lucifer, played by Mark Pellegrino, is one such monster.

Unsurprisingly, the woman’s family were less than impressed with the name of their newest relative.

“The whole call was silent for like a full minute and then one of my brothers asked her if that was a joke and she got mad and left the call,” wrote her sister.

Even less impressed, however, was the baby’s father, who apparently “freaked out and left when she told him, so she’s on her own”… maybe he’s just not a big Supernatural fan?

Apparently, the two sisters haven’t spoken since the call took place, so we may never know if the mother actually went through with it.
