- The Stock family released a statement saying they are devastated and asking for privacy while police investigate the murder.
The family of DJ Warras has spoken out after his murder in downtown Johannesburg.
DJ Warras, real name Warrick Stock, was murdered on 16 December.
A statement shared with TshisaLIVE on Wednesday by the Stock family spoke about his death.
“The senseless nature of his passing has left his family devastated, broken and struggling to imagine a world without him,” the statement said.
“A devoted son, a loving and proud father, a cherished brother and uncle, Warrick, 40, was the heart and anchor of his family.”
The statement said Warrick was affectionately known as DJ Warras and also known as The Shady Lurker.
Warrick leaves behind three young children, his mother and his siblings.
“As the family begins the painful journey of mourning, they humbly ask for privacy, compassion and understanding during this unimaginably difficult time,” the statement said.
The family asked that SAPS be given space and support to investigate the crime so justice may be served.
The family is not appointing a spokesperson.
The Stock family thanked people for the outpouring of love, messages of support and condolences received.
The family will share details about memorial and funeral arrangements in due course.
