South African football fans have cheap options to watch the 2026 Fifa World Cup. The tournament kicks off on Thursday night with a match between South Africa and Mexico.
This is a massive moment for Bafana Bafana because the team last qualified for the tournament on merit back in 2002.
Three countries, Canada, Mexico and the USA, are hosting the matches together. It is the first time that 48 teams are playing in the tournament instead of 32. Twelve groups of four play three matches each in the group stage.
South Africa is in Group A. After playing Mexico, the team will face South Korea and Czechia.
The top two teams in each group go through to the round of 32 along with the eight best third placed teams.
Fans can watch the matches for less than R100. The SABC will show 34 of the 104 matches for free on SABC 3 and on the SABC+ streaming app. This includes all Bafana Bafana matches and the final.
DStv is broadcasting all 104 matches live on SuperSport from the Access package upwards for R99.
SportyTV offers a full tournament pass for just R10 on its mobile and TV apps. They also stream the matches on their YouTube channel for R14.99 a month.
Under coach Hugo Broos, the South African team finished third in the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
