Fans across South Africa feel cheated after Shudufhadzo Musida, who was crowned Miss South Africa 2020, didn’t even make it into the top 13 of the Miss World Pageant .

Musida’s fans had to stay up until 2am on Thursday morning to watch the glamorous ceremony taking place in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

They would have gone to bed bitterly disappointed after Poland’s Karolina Biewleska was crowned Miss World 2021.

“Poland won because of the Ukraine and Russia situation. South Africa winning would’ve saved this organisation,” tweeted Johnson Awalle, who first congratulated Karolina.

Karolina is a model currently studying a Master’s Degree in Management and hopes to become a motivational speaker.

But in San Juan, Musida and Miss SA organisers thanked everyone who was rooting for her on her final outing as Miss South Africa on the world stage.

Her dress was made by Cape Town’s high-end fashion designer Warrick Gautier.

“From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you, my beloved South Africa, for your unwavering support and the love I have received from you throughout this journey. I felt it within my soul as I stepped out on stage,” wrote Musida on her Instagram account.

The first runner-up title went to the United States’ Shree Saini and the second runner-up was Cote d’Ivoire’s Olivia Yace.
