  • Victor Majola and Armindo Pacula appeared together for the first time charged with murdering DJ Warrick Stock in Johannesburg CBD.
  • The State requested postponement because CCTV footage, ballistic reports and documents are still being analysed at laboratories by forensic investigators.

Victor Majola, 44, and Mozambican national Armindo Pacula, 25, stood side by side in the full and heavily guarded courtroom at Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

It was the first time the two men accused of killing popular DJ Warrick Stock appeared together in court.

Majola stood calmly with his head tilted to the side. Pacula struggled to hold back tears and appeared afraid of his co-accused.

Police officers carrying heavy guns rushed Pacula out through a different exit. Majola was taken down to the holding cell.

The State prosecutor requested a postponement.

“Video footage is still at the lab. We are waiting for it to be analysed. We are waiting for a lot of documents that are still outstanding. The ballistic report also still needs to be obtained,” the State said.

Pacula allegedly wants to enter into a plea deal with the State and turn state witness.

Both men will remain in custody. They will return to court on 1 April.

At a previous court appearance, Pacula abandoned his bail application. He claimed his life could be in danger at Johannesburg Correctional Centre, known as Suncity Prison.

He was transferred to Modderbee Prison in Benoni, Ekurhuleni.

Majola was denied bail. It is alleged he pointed Stock to the gunman minutes before the murder.

Stock was shot dead on 16 December while installing security cameras at a building in Johannesburg CBD.
