Aston Villa picked up a hard-fought 3-2 win over West Ham on Sunday, thanks to Morgan Rogers’ double at the London Stadium.
The midlands club are now just three points behind leaders Arsenal, and their confidence is soaring after a remarkable turnaround in form.
Villa’s hopes were given a boost by Mateus Fernandes’ lightning-fast goal, but West Ham fought back with goals from Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jarrod Bowen.
Rogers’ equaliser and a stunning 25-yard strike in the 79th minute secured the win for Unai Emery’s side.
Elsewhere, Erling Haaland was at the double for Manchester City as they picked up a 3-0 win away to Crystal Palace while Thomas Frank’s struggles continued when Tottenham Hotspur were battered 3-0 at Nottingham Forest.
In the Wear-Tyne derby, Sunderland secured a 1-0 win over Newcastle United, thanks to Nick Woltemade’s unfortunate own goal.
The win lifted Sunderland to seventh in the table, while Newcastle slipped to 12th.
On Saturday, Mohamed Salah returned to the Liverpool side that beat Brighton 2-0 while Arsenal got over the line by two goals to one against a resilient Wolves desperate to turn the tide.
The gameweek concludes at Old Trafford where Manchester United will host Bournemouth on Monday night football.
