Uzalo actor Simphiwe Majozi has been labelled as an abuser by his ex-girlfriend, who is a DA councillor in Elundini, Eastern Cape.
The ex-girlfriend, Kekeletso Mahlelebe, who dated the actor for six years, told City Press that Majozi allegedly abused her both physically and emotionally during their relationship.
Majozi plays the part of Sbu on the SABC 1 series.
In an interview with City Press, Mahlelebe alleged that Majozi hid their relationship from social media, hit her once, cheated on her and even brought other girls to their home.
According to the publication, Mahlelebe left the home the couple shared in Newlands, KwaZulu-Natal five months ago.
She said this was because she could not take the abuse anymore.
“The relationship was a roller coaster. Simphiwe was abusive. He cheated [on me] a couple of times, and his family was not nice to me, and he did not want to resolve anything. “The relationship was centred on his friends’ and family’s opinions; it was just not about us.” She added that he did not want to post anything about them on social media.
“He kept on saying that he wanted to keep our relationship private, but that was because he had a lot of side chicks and he could not explain to them who I was to him. He was very careful how he answered them,” she is quoted.
Mahlelebe said she reached out to an NGO and the police for help after Majozi hit her.
“Simphiwe loves his job so much and he will do anything to protect it. So, after that, instead of hitting me, he was emotionally abusive and did everything else to hurt me,” she said.
Majozi has not yet responded to the allegations.
