PICK OF THE SPORT: The potential for major upsets returns when the FA Cup takes centre stage across England this weekend.
The third round of England’s major domestic cup trophy kicks off this weekend, with the giants of the Premier League now getting involved.
With the FA Cup comes the possibility of a shock result for teams from the lower leagues as they come up against Premier League sides.
The first real chance of an upset is when former giants Portsmouth take on a struggling Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at 2.30 pm.
In-form Sheffield Wednesday will also have the chance to cause major disruption when they face Newcastle United at 8pm on Saturday.
On Sunday, Cardiff City will take on Leeds United before Stevenage face Aston Villa – as is often the case in cup competitions, the upsets will simply come down to which teams want it more.
However, the pick of the bunch has to be Manchester City taking on Chelsea for the second time in three days on Sunday.
Chelsea played host to Manchester City on Thursday night in domestic league action where Pep Guardiola and his men secured a 1-0 away victory at Stamford Bridge.
But this time, the Etihad Stadium will host the two giants, with the Blues looking for revenge and City looking to make it two in a row.
The pick of the FA Cup action in City facing Chelsea will kick off at 6.30 pm on Sunday evening.
All the cup action can be watched live on DStv channel 203 throughout the weekend.
➔ The Proteas will continue their attempts at salvaging their dignity in their third and final test against Australia this weekend.
Australia has dominated the South African cricket side, who have been rescued by the weather gods as play was suspended somewhat on Thursday and fully on Friday.
The series is already over, with the hosts picking up a 2-0 lead, but a 2-1 loss looks a whole lot better than a 3-0 defeat.
The chances of an actual Proteas win are thin, with rain looking to play the final part during the final test.
Any South African cricket fan sane enough to watch the hammering by Australia will have to set their alarms for 1.30 am in the morning to tune in to the action, live on DStv channel 201.
➔If the formbook is to be believed the South African matches in the United Rugby Championship are a done deal, Connacht are expected to beat the Sharks, with a close encounter expected between the Stormers and Glasgow Warriors.
The Sharks are always a class outfit and coach Neil Powell seems to be riding the crest of a wave (excuse the pun).
The match that should be a nail-biter is the Stormers against Glasgow Warriors. If anybody can get those youngsters fired up it’s John Dobson, and when that backline functions properly, not many teams in the world can contain them. Expect a cracker.
The Sharks travel to Connacht for a 7.15pm kickoff on Saturday before the Stormers face Glasgow Warriors at 5pm on Sunday.
All the action can be watched on DStv channel 201 and 211.
