Popular Ukhozi FM traffic reporter Ayanda Msweli admits he was disturbed emotionally when he was yanked off air two weeks ago.
Msweli was suspended for a week by the IsiZulu SABC radio station. Apparently the management wanted to sort out some things with him, but he kept postponing meetings until the bosses got angry and told him to stay at home for a while.
Last week the two parties finally met. Msweli says: “We ironed out some issues and found each other.
“Actually, it was a misunderstanding between two parties, but the media blew this thing out of proportion. But honestly, while I was off air, I was disturbed emotionally, because fans and listeners kept asking what my future was at Ukhozi FM. The listeners’ love for me moved me and I am happy to be back.”
While being off the air, Msweli got an opportunity to launch his own traffic podcast. His fans were updated by logging onto his Facebook page.
The former metro cop has grown his fan base through the witty way he delivers his traffic updates.
SABC’s spokesperson Gugu Ntuli confirmed Msweli was back on air.
