- Ndodana Tshuma, 46, wanted in the UK on three counts of murder, appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on extradition and separate firearms charges.
- Both matters were postponed to 27 August, to allow extradition paperwork to be finalised and further police investigation into the firearms charge.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, wanted by authorities in the United Kingdom on three counts of murder, appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, on two separate matters, extradition proceedings and a local charge of unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition.
Both were postponed to 27 August 2026.
Tshuma is wanted in the UK in connection with the deaths of his wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and their two daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, whose bodies were found at their home in Great Denham, near Bedford, earlier this month. British police have said all three died from blunt force trauma.
Tshuma entered South Africa legally through OR Tambo International Airport on 5 July 2026. Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi later said British authorities had failed to stop him at Heathrow Airport before his flight departed.
He was arrested six days later in Kensington, Johannesburg, after South African police, working through Interpol, received a request from UK authorities following a warrant issued by the Westminster Magistrates’ Court. He was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol at the time of his arrest.
Because he is wanted as a fugitive, Tshuma is now classified under South African immigration law as a prohibited and undesirable person, meaning he is considered unlawfully present in the country despite entering legally.
His extradition case will proceed under South Africa’s Extradition Act, with a magistrate first determining whether extradition can go ahead before any handover to UK authorities.
