South African star Tyla and global icon Beyoncé stole the spotlight at the 2026 Met Gala in New York City.
The high-fashion event took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on 4 May.
Guests celebrated the opening of the new Costume Art exhibition. Stars from around the world hit the red carpet in creative outfits to match the fine art theme.
Tyla stepped out for her third appearance at the famous museum. She wore a custom Valentino dress by designer Alessandro Michele.
Her outfit featured a detailed top covered in silver sequins and a satin skirt with a high slit.
Beyoncé made a major comeback. She returned to the Met Gala after staying away for 10 years.
She did not arrive alone. Her husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter joined her on the red carpet.
Beyoncé took on a leading role as a co-chair for the event. She shared the job with Vogue editor Anna Wintour, actress Nicole Kidman and tennis star Venus Williams.
Her fashion choice was one of the most discussed looks of the night.
She wore a sheer gown by designer Olivier Rousteing that looked like a skeleton. She finished the outfit with diamonds, gloves and a large dramatic coat.
The Met Gala is famous for strict dress codes and big celebrity guests. Both Tyla and Beyoncé won praise for their bold choices that fit the new exhibition.
