Two people were shot and killed while two others survived with gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital on Saturday in Zonkizizwe, near Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.

Sources who spoke to Scrolla.Africa said the surviving two were rushed to Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital by private transport, while two were certified dead at the scene.

He said when the police were called they found bloodied bodies with gunshot wounds lying in the street.

The source said, “It’s suspected to be taxi violence”.

Scrolla.Africa has the names of both deceased and those in hospital.

Another resident told Scrolla.Africa that the area had become a dangerous place to live. “Praying without action does not help. We need to unite as Zonkizizwe residents and install cameras at taxi ranks.”

This is the second incident of taxi violence that has ended in deaths recently.

On Thursday three people, including a second year student from University of Johannesburg, were shot and killed in Braamfontein.
