Tshwane Metro Police officers have been arrested for possession of and dealing in drugs.
The arrest took place after the Pretoria Central Crime Prevention and Reaction Team carried out an operation on Wednesday afternoon in Edmond Street, near a local hospital, when officers saw two suspects approach a Tshwane Metro Police vehicle.
The officers realised that the Metro Police officer was working with the drug dealers and acted quickly to arrest them.
One suspect managed to escape by running into a stormwater drain, while the remaining suspects resisted arrest.
Despite the suspects attempting to smear the officers with human waste, the officers still managed to effect the arrest.
A search of the police vehicle uncovered drugs and cash. The suspects are now facing charges of drug possession and dealing and will appear in court soon.
Tshwane District Commissioner Major General Samuel Thine praised the officers involved in the arrest. He said anyone breaking the law, no matter their position, would be held accountable.
