US Presidential hopeful Donald Trump was shot in the ear after a gunman fired a series of shots at him while he was on stage at a rally on Saturday.
Trump was attending a campaign rally at the Butler Farm Show in Butler, Pennsylvania.
US Secret Service agents reacted immediately. The suspect, along with two bystanders, was shot dead at the scene.
The gunman was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
In a post on his Truth Social network, Trump said a bullet pierced the “upper part” of his right ear. Earlier, his spokesperson said he was receiving treatment at a local medical center.
“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening,” Trump wrote.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed the incident as an assassination attempt on Sunday. The motive for the attempt on Trump’s life is still under investigation.
