Justin Blitz of Schulman Blitz LLP filed the lawsuit which indicates that the South African comedian and host of The Daily Show, suffered injuries that are “permanent, severe and grievous”.
Noah claims that Dr Riley Williams failed to prescribe the right medication as well as failing to discontinue certain prescription medications.
Dr Williams has also been accused of failing to conduct the correct tests to diagnose Noah’s existing conditions. The injuries have been reported to have rendered the comedian sick, sore, lame and disabled.
Noah and his legal team continued to accuse the doctor of not informing the television host of the risks and dangers that came with using alternative treatments.
“A reasonably prudent person in the position of the plaintiff would have refused the treatment rendered, had they been so informed of the risks, hazards, and alternatives to the treatment rendered,” the lawsuit stated.
Noah’s lawyer said that his client would not comment on the incident until an investigation into the matter has been concluded.
The Hospital for Special Surgery, where the surgery is said to have taken place, responded to the allegations, claiming the accusations are meritless.
“We have shared with Mr Noah’s attorney a detailed rebuttal to the claims which are meritless,” the hospital’s public relations team said.
Noah was a patient at the hospital between 25 August 2020 and 17 December 2020 with the surgery said to have been conducted on 23 November last year. It was not revealed what the surgery was for.
No episodes of The Daily Show were aired between 19 November and 30 November of last year when Noah was alleged to have been suffering following the botched surgery.
Noah and his legal team filed the lawsuit at the New York County Supreme Court on 29 November this year.
