Transfer deadline day: Liverpool complete their midfield rebuild

It was a transfer deadline day to remember as the Reds signed Ryan Gravenberch. But it is still not too late for Mohamed Salah to head to Saudi Arabia.

Jurgen Klopp’s side added to their midfield reinforcements by announcing Gravenberch’s move from Bayern Munich on Friday.

The 21-year-old Dutchman signed for a fee in the region of £34 million (± R680 million).

What Liverpool fans will be just as happy about, though, is the fact that their team turned down a whopping £150 million (± R3 billion) offer for star man Salah from Saudi Arabian giants Al Ittihad.

However, the window in the Middle East only closes on 7 September, and multiple reports state that a move could still be on the cards with the Arabs looking to submit a record £200 million (± R4 billion) offer before then.

As far as Premier League incomings go, though, the window is shut — and one side that will be happy with their deadline day business is Nottingham Forest.

Steve Cooper’s side went big on Friday as seven stars made their way to the club.

Among those names were former Liverpool icon Divock Origi and Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares who joined on loan deals.

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare also joined the Foresters on big money permanent moves.

Over in Spain, Barcelona will be happy to have finally gotten their deals for Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix over the line.

Cancelo joined the Catalans from Manchester City on a loan deal with no option to buy while Felix did the same from Atletico.

Both players took significant pay cuts to join the Spanish giants according to Fabrizio Romano.

The window will be one that will be remembered for it’s short term deals as Manchester United also saw themselves involved in a couple of loan agreements.

The Red Devils signed Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat on loans while also sending Mason Greenwood to Getafe on a short term deal.
