- X user Chris Excel posted a collage labelling Thuli Phongolo as part of Prince Kaybee and businessman Edwin Sodi’s so-called “hit list” of women.
- Thuli Phongolo told Prince Kaybee directly that his response was intentional and said she has dated fewer than five people in her life.
Thuli Phongolo was not part of Prince Kaybee’s argument with DJ Maphorisa. She became part of it when Kaybee laughed at a post that put her face in a collage of women labelled as his conquests and said nothing to correct it.
X user Chris Excel posted the collage during a public spat between Prince Kaybee and Maphorisa over music industry ownership.
The post listed women under the heading of what he called Prince Kaybee and businessman Edwin Sodi’s “hit list.” Phongolo’s photo was included.
Kaybee reacted by sharing the post with the comment “Lol you motherfucker,” without pushing back on the framing or removing Phongolo from the conversation.
Phongolo responded on her Instagram stories, addressing Kaybee by name.
“I’ve literally only met you once at gym this year even on a hi and bye basis,” she wrote.
“You know what you did with that response, it’s intentional. Stop it.”
She also addressed the post directly on X.
“If you’re going to entertain it, you might as well clear it with the truth,” she wrote.
“I’ve never slept with you or Edwin for that matter. This whole narrative of trying to paint me as loose is tired.”
In a second Instagram story, she spoke about what it costs to stay silent.
“I can count the people I’ve dated on one hand,” she wrote.
“To be affiliated with the world when in reality I take pride in taking care of myself and my integrity is aggravating. And men feed into these stories because it serves them.”
Kaybee said he had not started any rumours. He pointed to the 2023 assault case Phongolo had opened against Maphorisa, asking why critics had not spoken up at the time.
Phongolo opened that case in 2023. Maphorisa appeared in court on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. She later withdrew it and both said they had resolved the matter privately.
