Advocate Thuli Madonsela has been named as one of the all-female judging panels for Miss South Africa 2022.

The selection committee for this year’s contest includes former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, former Miss World Rolene Strauss, investigative journalist and media personality Devi Sankaree Govender, former Miss South Africa 1990 Suzette van der Merwe and radio host  Thando Thabethe.

Madonsela shared some advice for the top 10 finalists.

“Accept yourself as you are while striving to do better with the things that matter. And if you fail, consider that as school fees for lessons learned. Bounce back as quickly as you can, using the wisdom you gained from failing,” she said.

The former public protector said as a judge she was looking for an inspirational leader, a woman who was not confined to one particular role but demonstrated the capacity to live a life filled with purpose.

Tunzi said: “I will be looking for someone who has a unique voice and has a strong conviction in who they are and what they stand for. These are usually the people who know how to use their platform to contribute positively to humanity.

“They must also be sincere in their approach to the crown because this says a lot about who they will be as the reigning queen,” she said.
