  • Former Generations actor Thabiso Mokhethi says he hit rock bottom after leaving the show and couldn’t afford basic things like food or transport.
  • He told a podcast how going from being a provider to asking for help was one of the hardest parts of his journey.

Thabiso Mokhethi, once a star on the hit soapie Generations, has shared how he struggled with money and emotions after losing his job.

Speaking on the Engineer Your Life podcast, Thabiso said he couldn’t afford everyday things that most people take for granted.

“There were times when I couldn’t even afford an Uber. Sometimes, I didn’t have food to eat,” he said.

After losing his job, he went from being someone who supported his family to someone who needed help just to get by.

“It was very difficult for me,” he said.

Thabiso, who also acted in Rhythm City, is not the only well-known actor who has faced financial trouble after leaving TV.

Actors like Nandi Nyembe, Gcina Mkhize, and Pebetsi Matlaila have also had a tough time, with some even asking the public for help.
