The third round of the new FA Cup campaign got underway on Thursday, with the Premier League’s finest all in action over the course of the weekend.
The round kicked off with some all top-flight clashes. Crystal Palace and Everton played out a goalless draw on Thursday to set up a replay.
On Friday, Brentford and Wolves could also not be separated.
Ten-man Wolves were rescued thanks to Thomas Dayle, who cancelled out Neal Maupay’s first half goal to make it 1-1.
Pedro Porro’s subllime strike against Burnley was the only goal of the game in North London as Spurs booked their spot in round four.
The goal came in the final 13 minutes of play, saving FA Cup debutant Ange Postecoglou and his side from the prospect of an away day replay.
Tottenham’s first cup tie as they continue to hunt for their first piece of silverware in 16 years had to begin without star man Heung Min Son, who alongside Pape Sarr, is away on international duty.
Round three also features a North East derby between Sunderland and Newcastle on Saturday before Liverpool travel to Arsenal for the pick of the fixtures on Sunday.
As is the case in the FA Cup, there is also some scope for gargantuan upsets, with Huddersfield travelling to defending champions Manchester City and Wigan Athletic hosting Manchester United.
