Thandiswa Mazwai, a South African musician, also known as King Tha, performed on the popular YouTube channel, Tiny Desk.
She is also the lead vocalist and songwriter for Bongo Maffin.
Her debut album, Zabalaza, released in 2004, achieved double platinum status and a nomination for the Planet Awards on BBC Radio 3.
Her recent performance on the Tiny Desk Concert has made not just her daughter, but the whole of South Africa proud.
Announced earlier in the year, Thandiswa’s appearance follows her January show at GlobalFEST in New York.
Many South Africans shared their happiness in the YouTube comments section of Thandiswa Mazwai’s Tiny Desk Concert video, with Thandiswa’s daughter leading the heartfelt messages.
“Oh, my mommy, I’m immensely proud of you,” commented Malaika on YouTube.
“Trolling aside, I’m so proud of my mom. The album sounds soooo beautiful and so personal. I’ve been listening to it slowly so I can take it in and wow! Tiny Desk and GlobalFEST were the beginning of new heights.”
Thandiswa Mazwai’s fans also posted photos of themselves viewing her performance.
The video attracted around 125,000 views in just 24 hours on the YouTube channel which has just over 9-million subscribers.
