Speaking in court, Bokgabo’s father Irvin Ndlovu pleaded with his daughter’s suspected killer to tell them where he buried her missing body parts.
Ndlovu said they are forced to delay their daughter’s burial as they are trying to find her missing body parts.
This was after suspect Ntokozo Zikhale’s second appearance at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Magistrate Shantel Williams postponed the matter to 14 November for further police investigation.
Ndlovu said community members have joined in the search in Wattville and neighbouring areas to find her body parts.
“We are all searching in the dark because the suspect doesn’t want to tell us where he buried them,” said Ndlovu.
He lambasted the court for granting the suspect bail in his previous case of raping a nine-year-old girl last year.
“If he was denied bail and kept locked up my daughter would be alive today,” he said.
The suspect appeared on two matters. The rape of a nine-year-old girl last year and the five charges relating to Bokgabo’s case which are kidnapping, rape, murder, defeating the ends of justice and violating a corpse.
The regional spokesperson of the NPA Lumka Mahanjani said the state is ready to oppose the bail application and revoke his previous bail.
She said Zikhale was granted bail in the rape case because they didn’t have enough evidence to oppose his bail.
“The victim was only able to positively identify the suspect three months after the suspect was granted bail,” she said.
“DNA evidence also positively linked him to the incident.”
Mahanjani said that the state is ready to oppose the bail application in the matter of Bokgabo.
The four-year-old Bokgabo went missing while playing in a park near her home two weeks ago in Wattville, Ekurhuleni.
Parts of her body were discovered a day after she was reported missing by Leah Khosa who was cleaning her yard.
The rest of her body was found dumped in an open veld 800 metres from the scene.
