A 16-year-old was arrested for the alleged rape of a three-year-old boy from Sasekani village in Limpopo on Monday.
The minor went to his neighbour’s yard to play, and on his return home, he told his grandmother that his brotherās friend raped him.
The grandmother approached the suspect’s father to ask about the incident, but the 16-year-old denied raping the boy.
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the matter was immediately reported to the police, and the victim was taken to the hospital for a medical examination.
āThe suspect was traced and apprehended in the morning on Tuesday 14 May, at Sasekani village.
āThe probation officer is expected to compile an assessment report about the suspect regarding the court proceedings soon,ā he said.
Meanwhile, Ritavi police have launched a search for a man who raped a 26-year-old woman at Lephepane village in New Stands, Limpopo, on Monday afternoon.
The victim was reportedly walking along the street when she saw the man wearing red overalls.
The man allegedly grabbed and strangled the victim before pushing her to the ground.
He forcefully undressed and raped her and fled the scene on foot.
Ledwaba said the victim managed to get help and reported the incident to the police, who immediately opened a rape case.
āThe victim alleges that the suspect is known to her by sight and is suspected to be staying around Lephepane village,ā Ledwaba said.
