- Danny Tong grew up in Taung with few opportunities but built a company that now works in infrastructure, energy and mining across South Africa.
- His company employs over 1,000 people and is planning to list on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange as it continues to grow.
Dr Danny Tong was born in Taung, a small town in the North West where life was not easy and opportunities were limited.
He refused to let his background decide his future.
In his early years in business, every job mattered. Every mistake could have cost him everything. Still, he kept going and continued learning.
Tong says success does not come from quick wins. He believes it comes from building something strong that can last.
This belief changed how he approached his work. He stopped thinking of himself as someone just running a business. Instead, he focused on building something bigger.
Step by step, he moved from being a subcontractor to becoming a main contractor.
This growth allowed him to take on bigger projects and prove he could compete at a high level.
Today, Tong is the founder and chairman of InvesTong Group.
The company operates in infrastructure, energy and mining. It employs more than 1,000 people and handles projects worth billions of rand.

Tong says success is not just about making money. He believes business should create jobs, support communities and leave a lasting impact.
He says discipline played a big role in his journey, not luck.
Tong believes in showing up even when things are tough and continuing when others give up.
His company is now aiming to list on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, which could mark another major step in his journey.
