Following their big win over Wydad Casablanca, Jwaneng Galaxy manager Morena Ramoreboli had to face unsavoury accusations from a Moroccan journalist in his post-match press conference.
The Botswana Premier League side handed the Moroccan giants a shocking 1-0 home defeat in the Caf Champions League.
Thabang Sesinyi silenced the Casablanca crowd shortly after the half hour mark as the visitors picked up the goal despite being outplayed for 90 minutes.
The manner of the result was something that the hostile home crowd, and journalists, did not take well.
Following the pitch inspection, Galaxy players were pictured pouring water onto the pitch after forming a circle near the corner flag. This prompted calls of “Juju”, also known as witchcraft or black magic, from one journalist.
The accusations did not go down well with the South African coach, who called the journalist disrespectful.
“You are being unfair. I said they were doing a warm-up; they did a warm-up before the game,” he said, looking visibly angry.
“You are undermining me, and saying we won because of black magic. Don’t disrespect us. I’m very sorry but you can’t be talking like that,” he added as he stormed out of the press room.
Alongside Wydad, Simba and the Mimosas in their group, Galaxy will hope to produce a special underdog story this season.
