Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has refused to be drawn into allegations of neglect by his famous actress daughter Asavela Mngqithi-Mqokiyana.
The former Isibaya actress shocked fans last week when she posted in social media that Mngqithi was a “deadbeat” dad.
She implied that Mngqithi, who is one of the highest paid coaches in South Africa, was never there for her.
Attempts to solicit comment from Mngqithi drew a blank but Sundowns spokesperson Shupi Nkgadima said the team does not comment on private life matters.
“The coach and our players are not interested to comment about their private lives,” he told Scrolla.Africa.
In April the actress announced that she got married and last week she shared pictures of her new lavish home that she and her husband built.
Mngqithi-Mqokiyana said her success must never be attributed to her being Manqoba Mngqithi’s daughter and that the money she has worked for is all her own.
She further said she has been through ups and downs without him and people should keep their opinions to themselves.
“Whatever I have achieved and will still achieve, never credit my hard work to Mngqithi and his money. Ngihluphekile ngaphumelela engekho. If you have an opinion or inkinga cela uyidle. Love and light I guess.”
Scrolla.Africa understands that Mngqithi, who is married, birthed Asavela from another relationship.
