A 16-year-old Grade 11 student from Jeppe High School for Boys in Gauteng tragically died on Tuesday after a rugby match against Hoërskool Die Anker in Brakpan.

Kaiden Bowie felt unwell and collapsed shortly after leaving the field.

Despite immediate medical attention from onsite paramedics and further assistance following the ambulance’s arrival at the hospital, Bowie sadly passed away.

The school expressed its sadness over Kaiden’s death in an X (formerly Twitter) post.

“We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of one of our learners, Kaiden Bowie (Grade 11 Koodoo), who tragically passed away yesterday afternoon,” said the message.

Numerous schools, including St John’s College, Durban High School, and St Stithians College, extended their condolences to Kaiden’s family, friends, and the Jeppe High School community, highlighting the impact of the loss and offering support during this difficult time.
