Nigerian Afrobeats musician Darey’s video for his latest single “Jojo” features a female biker gang in Lagos.
Darey – full name Dare Art Alade – is the son of African jazz legend Art Alade.
The gang, known as the Female Bikers Initiative, was set up by Jeminat Olumbegbon, code named Speed Diva. It’s the first all-female biker gang in Nigeria.
The group campaigns to break barriers that slow the progress of women and against breast and cervical cancer.
The video shows Darey and the female bikers zooming through familiar landmarks in Lagos in a post-pandemic world.
Darey’s wife, Deola Art Alade, is herself a biker and “passionate about women’s empowerment”.
