The police have revealed the identities of five suspects who were allegedly involved in the Nomzamo Tavern shooting in July.
Five men – Sarel Lehlanya Sello, Tshepiso Elliot Radebe, Thabang Radikatara, Tshidiso Moleko and Keletso Rabasotho – are wanted for 16 cases of murder and seven of attempted murder.
Gauteng police have confirmed that warrants of arrest have been issued for the five suspects, who allegedly opened fire on patrons at the Nomzamo Tavern in Soweto with high calibre machine guns including AK-47s.
Last week the police reported that they have footage showing the Nomzamo shooting suspects. They also said the suspects were now outside the borders of South Africa and they were working with Interpol to bring the suspects back to South Africa to face the law.
Johannesburg Police Commissioner Major General Max Masha said the shootings were planned and organised.
One of the survivors, Ncumisa Nhloko, who watched her boyfriend Menzi Nzimande die after being brutally shot, said she is very unsettled, especially because her boyfriend’s killers are on the run.
She told Scrolla.Africa that she will be at ease once all the suspects are behind bars.
Nhloko said the police aren’t updating the survivors on any developments.
“I just hear from neighbours talking. Recently I heard that there was a video that showed the suspects making their way into the tavern.
“Today I heard that there are pictures of the suspects doing the rounds. Really I’m clueless especially because I don’t have a smartphone and we still don’t have electricity,” she said.
