Soweto designers get their big stage at fashion week

  • More than 90 designers from Gauteng and other provinces will show their work at Soweto Theatre over four evenings from 28 April.
  • Tickets cost R150 for general entry and R600 for VIP access, with fashion shows starting at 18:00 each day.

Young designers and established names will share the spotlight when Soweto Fashion Week returns to Soweto Theatre on 28 April.

The event will run until 1 May 2026. Organisers say more than 90 designers will take part, with 42 fashion shows planned across the season.

The shows start at 18:00 each day. Designers from Gauteng and other provinces are expected to take part, giving the event a wider national reach.

What started in the township has grown into a major fashion platform. It now gives new talent a chance to be seen while also giving established designers space to present new collections.

That matters for young creatives who want to break into the mainstream fashion world. A runway show can open doors, build a name and help designers reach new buyers and supporters.

The event also puts Soweto in the spotlight as a growing home for culture and creativity. For many designers, clothes are not only about trends. They are also a way to tell stories and share identity.

This year’s edition promises a strong mix of style, culture and new ideas under one roof. It also creates space for people from different parts of South Africa to meet, share ideas and celebrate fashion.

Tickets cost R150 for general admission and R600 for VIP access.
