Actor, TV host, and medical doctor, Fezile Mkhize, won the Mister Supranational 2024 title, besting 35 contenders in Poland on Thursday night.
Mkhize said the loss of several family members in recent years inspired him to work harder, live life fully, and make a positive impact on others.
“I have faced tough times, but I always find the silver lining,” he said.
He said these experiences gave him clarity at a young age and a deep appreciation for the impact people can have on our lives.
“Sometimes, the only difference between a hero and a villain is that while both get hurt, the hero works to ensure others don’t suffer the same or helps them see their pain in a positive light,” he said.
Mister Supranational South Africa national director Stephen Segal said he was proud and honoured to have Fezile as the new Mister Supranational.
“We had limited time to prepare him to represent South Africa at Mister Supranational 2024,” Segal said, according to TimesLive.
The organisation celebrated Mkhize’s win, writing on social media: “Dr Mkhize, one of the most phenomenal, humble, and inspiring individuals, has won the coveted title, making history for South Africa as the first African man to win this international title. We are immensely proud and honoured.”
