Snenhlahla Msomi’s mother died when she was only four, but the gospel singer known as Sneziey believes her mother’s spirit lives on through her.

Her mother was a singer and wanted to make it big in music, but death ended her dreams.

Sneziey’s fame came when she was the second runner up in Idols SA, Season 15.

“I believe that my mother’s spirit is within me because all my life music is the only thing that makes sense to me. It gives me joy that I can’t explain,” she said.

Speaking to Scrolla.Africa she revealed that as her mother died when she was so young, the only fond memories she had of her mother is her singing.

“After my mother passed away, I lived with my uncles and grandmother. But later my uncles found wives and moved out of the family house. Then my granny introduced me to music when I was still very young,” said Sneziey.

She said her grandmother always took her with her to church.

“That is when I fell in love with singing,” she said.

“I wouldn’t have achieved anything without my granny.”

She said her granny is her inspiration and when she feels like giving up she thinks of her and keeps pushing.

“I grew up in an underprivileged home where we survived on what we had. And I made a promise to my granny that one day I will change her life for the better,” she said.

She said when she sings she feels her mother’s presence within her.

“I push myself to perfection because that is what she would have done. I feel when she died her spirit came to me. I can’t imagine my life without music.”

Sneziey released her debut album titled Izulu in which she thanks God for everything that has been happening in her life.
