Bacardi singer and dancer Jelly Babie says her husband Koketso abused her physically, emotionally and financially.
The musician, whose real name is Karabo Khakhu, spoke about her marriage in a series of Instagram posts. Fans asked her how married life was treating her, and she answered by sharing pictures of her injuries.
She posted graphic pictures showing bruises on her legs. She says the abuse caused the marks.
She told her followers she regrets getting married and wishes she never did.
“I survived being in an abusive marriage at a young age, but I don’t think I will ever recover,” she said.
The singer also shared a picture of herself in a hospital bed. She says she tried to take her own life many times. She told fans she survived those attempts.
There were already rumours that the couple was getting a divorce less than a year after marrying in 2024.
In August 2025, Jelly Babie posted a picture holding her wedding ring. She wrote that she was letting go, which made it seem she was leaving her husband.
But people later saw her wearing her wedding ring again. This made it seem like the couple had fixed their problems.
The singer faced criticism when she shared her lobola pictures in 2024. Many people said she was too young and should focus on her career.
Jelly Babie became famous in 2023 through her connection to the late musician Vusi Ma R5. She has since built her own name, working with artists like DJ Maphorisa and Pabi Cooper.
Her personal life has often been in the spotlight. She previously went viral after saying she dropped out of school in Grade 11 for her career.
