Suspended deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya is now facing three separate disciplinary actions, his lawyer, Estelle Killian, told court, after two further notices were served on him in addition to the original disciplinary hearing already scheduled.

“Your worship, unfortunately, the applicant did not bring this document along. He left it behind in prison, and he can’t recall what the actual hearing date is. But I’m placing on record that it’s my instructions. There’s another notice served upon him.

“Once we have access to that, we will maybe just address the court on that issue. So at this stage, it seems there’s three separate disciplinary actions, which the latest two have been served on him pending this matter,” Killian said.

This comes on top of the disciplinary hearing already confirmed for 5 October, over corruption-related allegations arising from the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. It’s not yet clear what the two additional notices relate to, or whether they stem from the same Madlanga Commission findings or separate matters entirely.

A negligent firearm charge has also been added to Sibiya’s charge sheet in the separate criminal case against him. He already faces charges of rape, sexual grooming of a minor and human trafficking in that matter, all of which he denies.
