South Africa’s award winning hip hop artist Shane Eagle has landed another hot feature from the United States – this time with Maryland’s unsigned artist J-Tek on the single “Solace”.
In the song, which had a music video released last Friday, Shane Eagle continues to bring the same energy that first flew his music to the US in 2019.
After winning the award for Best Hip Hop Album at the 2018 SA Music Awards with his debut album Yellow, he scored a feature with legendary rapper Bas on the song “Ap3x” in the US.
In the animated music video, which was created by animator and 3D artist Logan Gardner, the two independent artists drive into a bush in a car packed with camping gear.
After what seems to be a long drive deep into the forest, the animated characters drift down a smooth river stream on an inflated tube.
At the end of the first verse which is delivered by J-Tek, the whole scene repeats again and again until the end of the song, in which time Shane Eagle delivers his verse with ease.
“Careful you don’t fall into the fire, when God gives everything you desire,” raps Eagle.
The 25-year-old, whose real name is Shane Patrick Hughes, from Midrand in Johannesburg, rose to fame after finishing fourth in a televised rap competition called The Hustle, which was broadcast on Vuzu DStv channel.
In the case of J-Tek, things first started looking up when he reached one million streams independently on Spotify in 2017, after releasing lyrically-based songs like “Ghetto Birds” and “The Come Up”.
