Muizenberg, Cape Town is reeling from two devastating mass shootings that claimed seven lives within the space of just three days.

On Wednesday, 13 August, four men between the ages of 20 and 37 were gunned down in Overcome Heights. The bodies were discovered on Mountain Road, each with fatal gunshot wounds.

Before the community could process the tragedy, another shooting occurred on Saturday night in Xakabantu.

Three people, two women and one man aged 29 to 32, were killed; and a fourth victim, a man, survived after escaping with a gunshot wound.

The suspects remain at large, and police are intensifying patrols in the area to prevent further violence. The motive behind both attacks is still unclear, and authorities are appealing for information to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Policing in the area has been intensified to prevent any further violence. The SAPS appeals to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact crime stop on 08600 10111, or to submit information anonymously via the MySAPS mobile application,” South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut said in a statement.
