- Mkhwanazi will be the first witness before the Ad Hoc Committee, with hearings set for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Good Hope Chamber.
- Parliament says law enforcement at provincial and national level is on standby, and all witness preparations are complete.
Security has been beefed up for KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanaziโs appearance in Parliament next week.
Mkhwanazi will testify before the Ad Hoc Committee investigating corruption and political interference in the police service.
He is the first witness to appear and will give evidence on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Good Hope Chamber in Cape Town. His testimony follows claims he made earlier this year about interference in police operations in KwaZulu-Natal.
On Friday, Parliamentโs Security Services said all arrangements for his appearance are ready.
โWe have interacted with the province in terms of law enforcement. We are ready, even with the national components that would be supporting us,โ said Parliament Security Chief Sam Shitlabane.
Evidence leader Advocate Norman Arendse confirmed that preparations for witnesses are complete.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola is also expected to testify during the four days of hearings next week.
The committee has also finalised rules for alternate members, who can attend and contribute but do not have voting rights.
Earlier in September, at the Madlanga Commission, Mkhwanazi said Brown Mogotsi had police secrets he should never have had. He showed WhatsApps where Mogotsi shared internal reports, leaked confidential documents and even told alleged hitman Vusi โCatโ Matlala that the Political Killings Task Team had been shut down.
He also accused politicians, crime intelligence officers and even journalists of interfering in policing to target him and his team.
