One of South Africa’s favourite vocalists, Samthing Soweto, has set the record straight, after rumours that he may be “sick” started circulating on social media on Thursday last week.

”You are not wrong; I am going through a lot,” said Samthing Soweto in a video he posted on Instagram on Monday, 23 May.

It all started when the “Akanamali” hitmaker shared a picture of himself on Instagram asking people to rate “Andrew’s work”, referring to the barber who did his haircut. People chose to ignore the barber and focused on Soweto’s weight loss instead.

The star explained that he has changed his lifestyle by eating clean and doing exercises.

“I Don’t Know What @samthingsoweto Is Going Through But I Wish He Recovers God Bless,” nwrote Gift Momo on twitter, comparing the latest picture to Samthing Soweto’s old picture.

“I am not dying. I am okay. I am not ill,” replied Samthing Soweto on the over-three-minute video titled “Let’s talk about my weight”.

“I have just changed my lifestyle. There are things I no longer do, things I don’t eat and there are physical activities I do every day,” said Samthing Soweto, attracting a lot of sympathy from other celebrities.

“I love you… you hold a very special place in my heart,” commented “Xigubu” singer Fiesta Black on the video post.

“Dawg, I love you. You’re gonna be fine. You’re amazing. Stay up,” added rapper and businessman Cassper Nyovest.

Samthing Soweto thanked his fans for protecting him against the rumours. “Look out for the new music that’s coming in,” he said. “I should announce dates real soon, I will. Look out for all of that stuff.”
