Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been handed a two-match suspension and a fine by the Saudi Football Association for making an X-rated gesture at Al Shabab supporters during a match on Sunday.
The Portuguese star scored the opener in Al Nassr’s 3-2 win, but was riled by home fans who chanted Lionel Messi’s name throughout the game.
Hearing the name of his World Cup-winning rival caused the 39-year-old to step away from the team’s post-match celebrations to get even with the crowd.
Ronaldo put his hand to his ear and gestured towards his crotch to silence the Shabab fans.
His actions were not taken well, as outrage on social media resulted in an investigation being opened by the Saudi Pro League’s disciplinary body.
Multiple reports have now stated that the all-time great will be suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions.
Should the reports be confirmed, Ronaldo will miss Al Nassr’s league clash with Al Hazm on Thursday and will also be unavailable for their Asian Champions League quarter-final tie.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player has now scored 22 goals in 20 appearances this season, with Al Nassr sitting second in the league, four points behind Al Hilal.
