It looks as if three teams are facing the relegation axe in the PSL, but Chippa United didn’t do themselves any favours by losing 2-1 to Bloemfontein Celtic on Tuesday.
“We shot ourselves in the foot in the second half by playing a different game,” said Chippa coach Vladislav Heric after the game.
“We made silly mistakes and allowed them to score and we were indecisive.”
That loss saw them being dragged down to 15th place with just six points separating them from the Black Leopards, who are rock bottom but have a game in hand. They face the wildly inconsistent Kaizer Chiefs next Wednesday.
As things stand, Chippa will once again have to negotiate their way back to the DStv Premiership via the unforgiving play-offs.
The play-offs draw is set for Wednesday morning with three teams, two from the GladAfrica Championship and one from the Premiership, to contest for a place in the Premiership.
Stellenbosch is also in the danger zone, as they are in 14th place after drawing 0-0 against Swallows FC on Tuesday.
They are separated from Chippa by two points and both teams have two games left to save themselves from being dragged down to contest in the play-offs.
Meanwhile, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila moved up to 12th place after playing out a goalless draw in the Limpopo derby against Baroka FC. Tshakhuma traded places with Maritzburg United but could lose the place should the Team of Choice get a positive result against Cape Town City on Wednesday.
