Simphiwe Manzini has gone too far. She woke up in the mood for some drama on Wednesday and posted that she had just been hijacked and kidnapped. But her ill thought out prank quickly backfired and landed her in jail.
Police confirmed that the 28 year old from Soweto had been arrested for perjury, defeating the ends of justice and fraud after she reported a false hijacking and kidnapping case at the Protea Glen Police Station.
Not only did she single handedly destroy the hearts of everyone that watched in horror, praying for her safety, spending money to help her, actually going out into the streets to find her, using resources that could have helped someone who was in need.
In this day where women get kidnapped and killed all the time, she didn’t stop at just the prank, she drove to an entire police station, lied under oath in a statement and continued to build up the lie.
It doesn’t stop there! She did a Facebook live video to show that she was safe when her performance was done.
And she posted a detailed thank you note, everything orchestrated for her lie. She had no regard for the trauma she was putting people under.
Woosah!
The thing is, you just don’t do something like this. It is reckless and dangerous. A tracking company discovered that her car never left her ‘Home’ location and that the only time it did, she had driven herself to the police station.
We don’t know why she would do something like this, we are all waiting for her Facebook update. But even as a cry for help, you just don’t do this!
