After serving seven years in prison, Sindisiwe Manqele has been released on parole after being found guilty of murdering her boyfriend, the late rapper Flabba.

In 2015, Manqele was sentenced to 12 years for stabbing Flabba to death.

Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi was a member of the award-winning hip hop group Skwatta Kamp. He died at his home in Alexandra, Johannesburg from a fatal stab wound in the early hours of 9 March 2015, after an argument with Manqele.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Department of Correctional Services confirmed Manqele’s parole, effective 24 May.

The parole board also revealed that Manqele is “remorseful” and taking responsibility for the crime she committed.

“It is critical to highlight that parole placement is not the end of the sentence as Manqele will complete the remainder of the sentence in the system of community corrections,” continued the statement.

Manqele will finish her sentence fully on 23 May 2028.
