Afrotainment’s Q-Twins are about to conquer the music charts with their new single “Alusafani”.
It was first released on Friday, 12 August on all digital platforms as an audio version.
The duo borrowed Inkabi Nation recording label’s hit potion, which is made up of Xowla, Mduduzi Ncube and Big Zulu, to feature on the love song.
Landing on the top 20, the single has raced up the charts. Its rise was aided by the hype of the creation of its wedding-themed music video. People assumed that one of the twins was getting married after seeing clips of their music video wardrobe circulating on social media.
Now the song is sitting at number two on YouTube’s trending music charts, while the music video, which dropped on Monday, 15 August, sits at number five and climbing on the same chart.
The only thing that is separating the Q-Twins from the much contested number one spot is Makhadzi who sits not comfortably at number one spot with “Magear” music video. It is now approaching half a million views on the streaming platform, following its release on 12 August.
Amid the amapiano season, Afro-pop is currently ruling the charts with four songs in the top five, including Lwah Ndlunkulu’s “Ithuba” featuring Siya Ntuli at number three, while Nomfundo Moh’s “Sibaningi” featuring Kwesta sits at number four. Both songs, “Ithuba” and “Sibaningi”, were released without a music video last week.
The Q-Twins, a musical duo made up of twin sisters Viggy and Virginia Qwabe, first graced Mzansi with their bold voices on the fifteenth season of South African Idols in 2019.
The two sisters exited the show after Viggy pulled out following her sister’s failure to gain enough votes to be in the top four of the competition, according to a statement that was released by Mzansi Magic in October 2019.
