Princess Sibuyiselwe Angela Buthelezi, the daughter of Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) founder Mangosuthu Buthelezi, has died at the age of 55.
She passed away on Monday morning after being admitted to a hospital in Cape Town a week earlier.
Her brother, Prince Ntuthukoyezwe Buthelezi, said she fell ill during a parliamentary session.
In a family statement, Zuzifa Buthelezi wrote: “The youngest child of the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and Princess Irene passed away unexpectedly after being hospitalised. She had taken ill during a sitting of parliament, where she served as a member of the National Assembly.”
Her death comes just a year after the passing of her father.
Zuzifa added: “Although her health had not been perfect for some years, her sudden passing has deeply shocked us.”
Princess Sibuyiselwe is survived by her daughter, Princess Ntando Nkeiruka.
Funeral details will be shared soon.
