  • Mbali Shinga went to the Durban show after her political party found her guilty for refusing to remove Thami Ntuli.
  • Legendary gospel artist Benjamin Dube praised the province for its great musical talent while performing with The Zulu Kingdom Choir.

Politicians forgot their troubles and listened to spiritual songs at the fourth annual Songs and Hymns concert in Durban on Saturday night.

The music show took place at the Playhouse.

KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC Mbali Shinga was among the leaders seen in the crowd.

She attended the event on the same day her political party, the NFP, found her guilty.

She was found guilty because she refused to vote with the MK party to remove KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli.

The NFP is now planning to remove her from the legislature.

Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Mngadi and legislature member Fikile Masiko also attended the show.

Legendary gospel singer Benjamin Dube took the stage to perform with The Zulu Kingdom Choir.

The crowd stayed on their feet as he sang his popular tracks ‘Ngiyakuthanda Moyongcwele’ and ‘Jehova is Your Name’.

Dube spoke to the crowd between his songs.

“I am glad to work with The Zulu Kingdom Choir because they are so talented,” he said.

“In fact as the people of Gauteng we really admire KZN for having a talent in music. You cannot beat KZN when it comes to music.”

Singer Nozipho Phiri also performed. She is a member of the Joyous Celebration group.

She took fans back in time with a song she sang live in the United States of America during an international tour in 2017.

Her song, ‘Mayenzeke Intandoyakho’, made people shed tears.

Ayanda Ntanzi and Nothando Hlophe followed her with their own performances.

Between the music, seven pastors and bishops from different churches read verses from the Bible to the crowd.
